If Islam is seen as curing the ills of society why are they killing Christians in Nigeria, Turkey, and why is there a major prostitution and dope problem in Iran?
Why are the Sunnis killing the Shias and why do they still stone women and men as punishment for adultery?
Why does Sharia law have a death sentence for homosexuals and why do women not have equality with men?
The majority of people attracted to Islam are uneducated, unstable with violent tendencies. After all, the Prophet Mohammed was this kind of character.
I would bet none of these new muslims have ever read the Quran, Ibn Ishaq’s biography and the history of Islams violent expansionism and the millions killed in their conquests or have a full comprehension of the patriarchal misogyny that constitutes Islam.
Its just a phase that will end when they find that to be a muslim one must be circumcised (even women) , but if they want to follow a stone age 7th century paedophile Arab and flat earth science I guess they couldn’t make it in the real world anyway.

wahine, you have raised some good points all to which have simple answers,
1. this is not just a muslim problem its a world wide problem!! Nigeria has a mixed christian/muslim society, every1 is getting killed equally.. Turkey as well..
2. sunni’s killing the shia’s like where is this happening? Shia also marry sunni and vice versa!! As far as adultry is concerned this is a root of all evil, it destroys family’s and that alone is not good for society… children who are left abandoned are the ones who suffer from adultry, the products of adultry is hence the children… thats why shariah law is put in place for the rights of everyone.. Islam is just and easy religion.. and Allah(swt) dosn’t make anything hard lest you couldn’t bare it..also prostitution is legal in nz? so whats that saying??? just because they are of muslim countrys, that get a title and a bad one…
4. Allah(swt) created Adam and Huwwa (Eve) not adam and steve!! you cannot create children from a same sex couple..
5.In Islam we have a lifetime of knowledge there is always going to be something that we need to learn as muslims, Alhumdulilah Rasoolulah and his companions made islam easy for us.. Islam is perfect and humans are not..there for in saying that wahine Islam does not allow us to be un educated as you have put it… and if you were to search deeper you will find all the answers to your questions.. We not only follow Quran but we follow the sunnah that goes with it as well.. and you will find how beautiful this religion really is.. why is it that you’s only read the negatives and not the positives.. why is because you hearts are sealed until they will be opened!! I wanted to know how many (if any) Maori muslims were out there due to my step daughter attracting herself to another cultures tradition and beliefs because of a male friend she has known for 2-4 years.
I AM MAORI(not kiwi) and proud of the Maori heritage that GOD, in his Awesome foresight and mercies had given us Gentiles, with the opportunitiy to come under his umbrella of “Love and Compassion” and gave us Men of vision to guilde his flock,(even before the british invasion) Te Kooti, was one of them!
As far as the World and its problems,lets sought our own house first hence the reason i looked in this sight,my step daughter,the young choices she faces now will surely affect the path she must take and as head of this House i wonder what input if any i should consider apply.
The Bible is complete,the people are not and at the end of the day we all will stand before God as individuals not as a group.

There are a growing number of maori, samoan, tongan and other polynesians coming together under the banner of Islam. No we have not forgotton who we are, or where we come from. I dont speak maori, but does that make me less of a maori? NO. A lot of people whom i have come across dont even know who or what is a maori, but when i say kiwi, they associate that straight away.Ali da kiwi from brotown? man i’d love to see that. I totally agree that we all need to sort out our own places and you are the king of your castle, and should exercise that right, but those rights have boundaries, and when you try to cross those boundaries, there are repercussions. You do not have control of your step daughters thoughts, or even her actions outside of your house, which is exactly what you are trying to control. Would you have shown this much concern if your step daughter wanted to look into budism? judaism? maybe not i say. Maybe you should sit with someone who is knowledgable about the fundamentals of this religeon. And dont think that just because someone calls themselves a muslim, they are knowledgable. “those who do not know, are not equal to those who do know” very simple saying that is sometimes overlooked by many. With an open mind, im sure you will find that Islam is not what you may have first percieved it to be.

I am of Maori and English/Scottish descent. I was raised in a staunchly roman catholic family. Went to an anglican bording school for five years. Was married to a Mormon from America (no kids together), have since been divorced. I had a child to a Lebanese/Iraqi girl who was Sunni Muslim. Currently dating a Saudi Arabian girl whose family practices the Wahhabi version of Islam, however she does not practice her faith. In all my experiences throughout my travels, I’ve come to realise that the large majority of people I have met want the same things. Food, shelter, clothing, well-being and an opportunity to educate their children. I would say 90%-95% of the people I have met have the same ambitions I have just stated, regardless of their religion. In my opinion, people see religion as an avenue to achieve these things. But what most of us forget as that the 5%-10% of people that desire more (i.e. wealth, status and power) tend to have stronger ambition, will, drive and forcefulness of character. The natural laws of attraction dictate that the remaining 90%-95% of the community/population are drawn to these types of individuals, consequently conforming to their beliefs. And there you have it, the formula for religion. So no matter form a religion may take, it’s only a natural phenomonen to ‘follow the leader’ – whether that be Jesus, Yahweh, Allah, The House of Bush, The House of Saud or 50 cent. It really doesn’t matter, we are just pawns in the bigger scheme of things. Me personally, I like the beliefs of Hugh Hefner, what a champ!!!

Interesting concept toward your formula in regards to religion, and i would have to say i would agree to a certain point. I grew up with half my family claiming to be mormon(when it suited them) and the other half being ratana(also when it suited them)and yes a good percentage of them play the “follow the leader game” but it seemed a bit different when i moved further up north where i met and married a girl from a ringatu background. However, since both my wife and i have converted to Islam about 10 years ago, in regards to “following the leader” this concept is changed to following what the prophets have revealed as being not just religion, but a way of life. We as humans are weak, and so we need guidelines to adhere to, just as the governments have done ever since. As for hugh hefners beleifs? what are they? make as much money and sleep with as many women possible while exploiting them? Hmmmmmmmm…………. very debatable to a huge number of groups, both religious or not. One last thought, Knowledge is better than money. why? knowledge will protect you from what is right and what is wrong…..money wont

Some good points bro. Respect. I agree with your comment regarding humans being weak and needing guidelines. I can attest to this as an individual. I always try to act in accordance with what my mother taught me. Without her counsel and guidance throughout my childhood and adolescent years, I would not have had any ‘moral compass’ to help me navigate through the many trials and tribulations I’ve faced. In conclusion, I can not confirm on an intimate level exactly what Hugh Hefner’s believes. But in this instance, I believe it’s his actions that speak louder than any words or doctrine ever could. He follows the principle of ‘Make love, not war’.

You are mistaken, no Muslim has ever tried to insult my ancestory many Christians have. When I first joined the US Military my Commanding Officer immediately asked what my race was. When I first entered a Mosque not a single person asked my race. As a Maori/Pakeha believer I have heard Taufiq’s korero before and believe his surrender has been – and continues to be – greatly beneficial to him (and others of a like mind). Perhaps this is what matters most, ne? When one is before the One neither supporters nor detractors are present and this we should bare in mind.
What will be interesting to observe over these years will be not so much the increase in Maori believers inasmuch as how Maori culture and generic “Islamic” culture blend. I hope the hunger for true worship pre empts the hunger for cultural superiority – not just between Maori and deen but between all kiwi monotheists.

The true Shahada is Laa Elaaha Ellaa Allah. (There is no god except God). Putting Prophet Mohamed’s name alongside God constitutes idol worship of Prophet Mohamed. Prophet Mohamed did not add his name alongside that of God. He devoted his worship to GOD ALONE. All the Prophets/ messengers right back to Ibrahim (Abraham) who was given the rites of Islam by God devoted their Shahada to GOD ALONE.
Sura 2 Verse 130.
Who would forsake the religion of Abraham except one who fools his own soul.

Please also read Sura 2: verse 285; Sura 3 Verse 84; Sura 4 Verses 150-152 and Sura 27 Verse 59.
May God guide you on the right path and away from the manmade and baseless hadith followed by the majority of so-called muslims and Imams that corrupt the pure Islam of the Qu’ran.

salam alkum to all.. i have a few questions and finding it hard to research the answers and wondering if someone can help me. im a lebanese muslim born and raised humdulilah, iv been seeing a man now who is maori ratana but he is interested in islam. i would like to help him however i only know the basics of my religion. i was wondering what ratana religion is about (he doesnt tell me much) i know they follow the christian religion but what is the differents? i feel his family have no religion with all the alcohol and gambling, i tell them this is haram but he doesnt see the major effects of it. anyway i would really like to explain to him the differents and open his eyes to the true religion inshallah im just not sure how to considering i dont know much about his. any help is greatly appreciated. jazakallah and salam. heba.

in an attempt to try and put things into perspective, nearly all believers of some type of religious faith claim that theirs is the true religion, and the ratana church is no different. rather than learn more about the ratana belief, why dont you learn the indepths of Islam, the logical, scientific, and religious proof of Islam will give you the answers that you need to defend Islam, and that is what will benefit you. As for the ratana belief, there is a lot of kufr in it, and is basically based around the anglican belief, which is easy enough to google. What i have personally found is that, by learning about other faiths, you will likely bring up the points that we as muslims know is wrong, which usually escalates to a debate, and sometimes further, and is best avoided for obvious reasons. What i have found to be enlightening to others is to talk about some of the other well known Prophets like, Adam, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, even the best created female, Mary, (a lot of non muslims dont realise that we as muslims acknowledge their very high status) hope some of this helps.

When you say its so beautiful to see that many people of many faiths can be living together in the same country..I persume worshiping freely. Try sharing your beliefs openly in Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia. I worked there for a year and have worked in alot of Arab countries as a Security Contractor and boy as a Christian esp. Saudi only the Islam faith is allowed openly, Christians have to be subdued within compounds to worship. Bibles,crosses and any christian material is prohibited in public areas.
Mohamed is maybe your prophet but Jesus Christ is the son of God who performed miracles, died on the cross to save our sins and resurrected again. Muslims don’t believe that.

I will say though that Muslims revere Jesus the Christ, as the promised Messiah, the ‘spirit of God’ , born miraculously of a virgin, who by God’s power performed countless miracles where he restored sight and even raised the dead..

Assalamu alaikum and kia koutou,
I am facing a dilemma as a fairly new revert to Islam. Alhumdulilah I am Muslim and Alhumdulilah I have a whanau/whanuanga who love and respect me and vicer-versa. All my whanau are non-Muslim and we were brought up together in the typical kiwi Maori way with values around tikanga Maori. However my dilemma is around the greeting process we as Maori have when meeting each other and when we say farewell.
So as Maori Muslim’s how do handle greeting extended whanau when on the Marae, hui’s or gatherings? Do you avoid kissing, shaking hands with your cousins, uncles, aunts, nephews or do you just avoid your whanau? If so does it offend your whanau? how do you feel about it? Do you have to give up your culture, your heritage, your tikanga in order to follow Islam?

In kissing and giving hongi to our whanau, this is with the intention of Greeting.
So you can do as you normally would.

Other Maori Muslims advise women only greeting women and men only greeting men.
You do what you understand to be right.

I was pleased to watch the video ma shaa Allaah wa alhamdulillaahi rabbil ‘aalamiin.
Its very nice to see islam spread in this part of the world rather in any part of the world. To the brother Taufiq continue to seek knowledge until you meet Allaah and if you have a long life then in sha Allaah maybe you might be amongst the most knowledgable people in islam ever. Hold onto islam as its the rope of Allaah your maker who you will one day meet alone and answer to by yourself, no whanau , no debaters, no lawyers just you except if you practice the Quran it might be your lawyer to defend you when everyone else will run away from each other on the day of judgement. so hold on to islam, it will benefit you in this world and in the next life. wa salaamun ‘alaykumm.

by the way islam permits touching women for greeting and the like who are your mahrams such as your mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, aunties who are your mothers or fathers sisters. other extended family members(who are of the opposite gender) just explain to them that you are now muslim and that greeting by touching each other for opposite gender has limits allowed and limits disallowed for the extended family members disallowed to shake hands or touch them physically. and you choose to respect and practice it fully and that you are happy to take part in that which does not go against your faith as your faith is the most important thing in your life and that your culture comes second and that is for every culture also not just maori but every culture comes second to islam. and give da’wah to them so they might actually learn and accept it or reject upon clear evidences. and whosoever rejects the truth after its clear to them will have only themselves to blame.

but nowadays, people still think that all muslims are the same.
DO NOT follow Shi ah muslim, they wrote quran wrongly, it says that Nabi Muhammad SAW raped aisha which is completely FALSE. Nabi Muhammad SAW never did that. and for those people, please READ QURAN! 😦
shiah is different, thats what isis is. for those people who are new, or just converted to muslim, please becarefull 😦

Maori Muslims are spread across NZ. There are afew in Hastings. I myself am now based in Auckland where there are afew too.
